They were faced with many tourism business and marketing questions and challenges starting and growing their dream business… In the South East Asia tour market, it is very competitive. In Bangkok alone there are over 204 attractions and sightseeing tour companies listed in Tripadvisor.
So how does a new tour company with lots of competition learn how to market their tours profitably online and via social media?
And With the advent of social media giants like Facebook and Tripadvisor, it can be a little overwhelming...
So when the sisters knew they needed help to grow their tour business dream, they called me. First thing I wanted to do was to see what online assets or resources they had we could tap into fast and easy, for the lowest possible cost to increase inquiries and sales profitably.
One of the first marketing channels we looked at (outside their own website) was Tripadvisor. Tripadvisor has turned into a dominant channel over the last eight years with over 100 million reviews and tips by travel consumers. With that much activity, Tripadvisor is a tourism social media marketing that cannot be overlooked!
Fortunately Eng and Buay were smart and were able to list their company in the “Bangkok attractions” and sub category of “sightseeing tours.” Problem was they were ranked number 69 of the 198 attractions. And only number 41 of 69 sightseeing tours. This is bad and is not going to yield many inquiries for sales….
Tripadvisor Social Media Marketing Action Plan
So we created a Tripadvisor marketing action plan and put it into motion December 1, 2012.
Good news! In only two months by religiously applying the simple customer service and Tripadvisor review plan I recommended, LJ Biz moved to #15 of 204 attractions, and # 10 of 69 sightseeing tours!
And how did this in effect their inquiries and sales? They went up over 100%…
